NBAA-BACE is always a special time for those of us in the business aviation industry. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with friends, colleagues and service providers who share a deep passion for flight.
This year let’s take pride in the industry we represent. While private aviation sometimes faces criticism due to a glamorized perception, those of us within the industry see the tangible, positive impact it has every day. Often overlooked by the media, our clients use their aircraft to make a real difference—whether it’s flying an employee’s child or a complete stranger to a medical facility or rapidly delivering life-saving supplies and technology to disaster-stricken areas.
Recently, we’ve witnessed incredible efforts from clients and partners, mobilizing to support remote regions affected by severe weather. It’s a powerful reminder that private aviation isn’t just about convenience—it’s a vital tool that can change lives.
Similar sentiments were well stated in a 2009 Textron Aviation ad, when the industry faced significant challenges from regulators, the press, and the economy. It read, in part: “Timidity didn’t get you this far. Why put it in your business plan now? True visionaries will continue to fly. Because, in tempestuous times, leaders recognize it’s not about ego or artifice. It’s simply about availing yourself of the full range of tools to do your job.” In today’s environment, it’s not just about doing the job—it’s also about helping, providing and making a difference.
Beyond humanitarian efforts, the business aviation industry is at the forefront of creating more efficient and environmentally responsible flight technologies. From reducing carbon footprints to innovating quieter aircraft, the private aviation industry is pushing the boundaries toward a sustainable future. And in a broader sense, private innovation is happening everywhere—even in space, where we’re catching reusable rockets instead of letting them fall into the ocean!
